Daikokuten

Revered as a deity of good fortune who brings bountiful harvests and thriving commerce, Daikokuten is widely cherished across Japan as one of the Seven Lucky Gods (Shichifukujin). Symbolizing abundance, prosperity, and everyday well-being, he is traditionally depicted alongside an array of auspicious motifs. This work brings together stalks of wheat signifying fruitful harvests, the money tree evoking prosperity, the wish-granting mallet (uchide no kozuchi) said to tap out blessings, and the treasure sack holding gathered wealth. Each emblem reflects an aspiration that extends beyond mere material wealth—a wish that everyday labors bear fruit, fortune continues to circulate, and life is deeply fulfilled. Drifting clouds frame the composition, suggesting auspicious omens and blessings bestowed from heaven.
